INSTALLATION & FIRST EDIT · VERSION 1.0.1

Install & User Guide

From installing InlayerAI to getting every copy back on its own Photoshop layer.

Download InlayerAI 1.0.1 ↓

The same installer supports your free seven-day trial and purchased access. Manage your account or purchase InlayerAI.

1. Install the plugin

You need Adobe Photoshop, Creative Cloud Desktop, an internet connection and an account with a supported AI platform. Your platform credits pay for image generation separately from InlayerAI access.

InlayerAI requires Photoshop 26 or later. Creator testing has used Photoshop Beta 27.12 on Windows; compatibility with every release and with macOS has not been verified.

  1. Close any existing InlayerAI panel.
  2. Double-click InlayerAI-1.0.1.ccx. Follow Creative Cloud Desktop’s prompts to install or update it.
  3. Open Photoshop and choose Plugins → InlayerAI.
  4. If you still see the old panel, restart Photoshop and open it again.

2. Sign in to InlayerAI

There are two connections: your InlayerAI account controls access to the plugin; your AI platform account supplies the models and generation credits.

  1. Click Sign-in beside the InlayerAI logo.
  2. Enter your email address and request a sign-in code.
  3. Check your inbox and enter the eight-digit code in the plugin within ten minutes. You do not need a separate InlayerAI password.
  4. Your free seven-day trial starts automatically after your first successful sign-in. No payment is required. Existing accounts keep their current trial or purchased access. Downloading the installer does not start a trial.

The platform and editing controls appear inactive until you sign in to InlayerAI. Your sign-in is saved, so you normally will not need a code each time you open the plugin. Signing out of InlayerAI clears saved platform connections. After changing accounts, connect your platform again. Updating from 1.0.0 also requires reconnecting your platforms once. Use the same email when signing in on another computer.

Returning from your email app? Bring the main Photoshop window to the front first, then click the code field. A floating plugin panel can remain visible while Photoshop is not the active application.

3. Connect your AI platform

  1. Choose your platform from the Platform dropdown.
  2. Click its sign-in button and follow the browser approval instructions.
  3. Return to Photoshop and wait for the connection to complete. If a connection expires, use Sign in again.

InlayerAI includes Higgsfield, Krea, Magnific and OpenArt connections. Models, settings and credit information vary by platform and account. A missing balance display does not necessarily mean you have no credits.

4. Make your first edit

  1. Open your image in Photoshop. Set the selection tool to Fixed Ratio and choose a ratio supported by your intended model. Draw the area you want to edit.
  2. Choose a model and matching aspect ratio in InlayerAI. Select resolution or quality where available.
  3. Write what you want to change in Your edit. Add reference images if needed; the supported number depends on the model.
  4. Choose Copies. Start with one, or choose two to compare variations. Supported platforms allow up to four; Krea currently supports one.
  5. Check the displayed generation cost where available, then click Generate. More copies can use more platform credits.

Keep the original document and plugin panel open while the job runs. The plugin uses the visible image inside your selection as the source. Transparent areas are composited on white for the source crop.

To change which models appear in the dropdown, use the gear beside Model, choose the models you want and save. Choices are saved separately for each platform.

5. Compare your results

Each returned copy is placed on its own numbered smart-object layer, fitted to the original selection bounds and masked to the selection. Toggle layer visibility in Photoshop to compare copies, then use your usual masking and compositing tools.

Preserve composition adds guidance to the prompt. It does not lock the geometry or guarantee that every detail stays unchanged.

If a result has finished but has not appeared, use Place last result. It checks the existing job or retries placement without submitting another paid generation, and skips copies already placed. Keep the same document and panel open for this recovery.

Troubleshooting

The controls are greyed out

Sign in to your InlayerAI account first. Platform controls unlock once your trial or purchased access is confirmed. If the account check fails, reopen the account panel to retry.

I cannot type or paste my code

Click Photoshop’s main window or its taskbar icon to make it active, then return to the plugin’s code field.

The code has not arrived

Check the email address and your spam folder. Follow any wait message before requesting another code; repeated requests are rate-limited.

The selection ratio does not match

Set Photoshop’s selection tool to Fixed Ratio, redraw the selection and choose the same supported ratio in the plugin.

A model is missing

Check the model gear menu and your selected platform. Availability depends on the platform’s catalogue, account access and supported editing options.

A generation failed or only some copies appeared

Try Place last result first. If you are unsure whether a request was submitted, check your platform library before generating again. After restarting Photoshop, recover completed images from the platform library; the plugin cannot restore the previous job’s selection mask across sessions.

Need a hand?

Email support@inlayerai.com with your plugin version, Photoshop version, platform and the error message. A screenshot can help. Do not send passwords, sign-in codes or API keys.
